Zomato is set to roll out “District,” a new app designed to offer dining, movie ticketing, and event booking services, expanding its reach beyond just food delivery. Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s CEO and founder, revealed the app on social media.
In his announcement, Goyal highlighted Zomato’s success in home delivery through Zomato and Blinkit and its strong presence in dining-out experiences. He emphasized the opportunity to extend these offerings to include movies, sports ticketing, live performances, shopping, and staycations.
With District, Zomato aims to compete with BookMyShow, which currently holds a dominant 60% share in the outdoor booking sector in India. The goal is to establish District as a comprehensive platform for various going-out activities, positioning it as Zomato’s third major B2C business.
In the recent June quarter, Zomato reported a remarkable 126.5-fold increase in net profit, reaching Rs 253 crore, with revenue climbing 74% to Rs 4,206 crore, despite broader e-commerce sector challenges.
