Wipro Plans to Recruit 10,000-12,000 Fresh Graduates in FY25 Following Six Quarters of Decline

Wipro is set to hire 10,000-12,000 new employees this fiscal year, marking a turnaround after six quarters of reduced hiring. The company added 337 employees in Q1 and is focusing on recruiting fresh graduates from engineering campuses across India.

Sourabh Govil, Wipro’s Chief HR Officer, announced that the company will engage with colleges nationwide to secure new talent. “We will strengthen our partnerships with various institutes and conduct both on-campus and off-campus recruitment this year. We also aim to maintain a similar hiring pace next year. With our utilization rate at its peak, now is the ideal time to build our workforce for future growth,” Govil explained.

The increase in hiring reflects improved demand in specific business sectors. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has also set a campus hiring goal for FY25, while Infosys plans to bring on 15,000-20,000 fresh graduates, its first significant hiring announcement in six quarters. TCS has already onboarded 11,000 freshers in Q1 and targets 40,000 hires overall.

The hiring news comes in the wake of Wipro’s Q1 earnings report, where the company reported a 4.6% rise in net profit to ₹3,003 crore, despite a 3.8% drop in consolidated revenue to ₹21,964 crore.

Social Media Reaction:
Reactions online are mixed, with some users questioning whether the new hires are fresh recruits or those waiting for joining letters. Others criticize the pay scales and job offerings from major IT companies.

One user wrote, “Personally know freshers waiting for Wipro DOJ… Is this new hiring from colleges or just issuing joining letters for already recruited freshers? @Wipro @WiproCareers”

Another user commented, “These companies haven’t upgraded their pay scales, and yet they offer the most jobs in India.”

A third user replied, “Still, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant are hiring freshers at 3.5 LPA. Is that the best they can offer?”
