TII Acquires Hyderabad-Based Cellestial Emobility, Partners with Grupo Marvelsa for Sustainable Global Expansion
Farming, a labor-intensive process reliant on traditional diesel or gasoline-powered tractors, has long been associated with significant environmental pollution. These conventional tractors often require a complete engine rebuild after just 600 hours of operation. In contrast, electric tractors offer a game-changing solution for the farming industry. As the world increasingly shifts toward sustainability, adopting eco-friendly practices is crucial.
Sustainable energy, derived from sources like wind, solar power, waste, and animal manure, is essential for the future. With farming being a primary source of employment in India, developing sustainable solutions for this sector is key. Replacing traditional tractors with their eco-friendly, efficient counterparts promises a more sustainable and cost-effective approach.

Cellestial Emobility: Pioneering Sustainable Farming
Hyderabad-based Cellestial Emobility, founded by Siddhartha Durairajan, Syed Mubasheer Ali, Midhun Kumar, and Vinod Moudgil in 2019, aims to revolutionize the farming industry with zero-emission products. The company’s e-tractors are pollution-free, maintenance-free, and noise-free, running on swappable, rechargeable batteries that charge within two hours from a domestic power source. These e-tractors can operate for six hours on a single charge, offering superior performance with innovative drive-by-wire technology and an intelligent unit designed to eliminate physical elements in automobiles.
Recently, on January 24th, Tube Investments of India Ltd (TII), a Murugappa Group firm, acquired a 70% equity stake in Cellestial Emobility for ₹161 crores. This strategic investment aligns with TII’s vision of expanding into sustainable technologies, as Cellestial focuses on designing and manufacturing electric tractors, aviation ground support electric equipment, and other electric machinery.
Expanding Globally with Grupo Marvelsa
On February 3rd, Cellestial Emobility signed a marketing and sales distribution partnership with Grupo Marvelsa to export India’s first electric tractor to Mexico. This partnership marks the beginning of Cellestial’s international expansion, with plans to sell 4,000 e-tractors in Mexico over the next three years. The move into the Mexican market is expected to open doors to the profitable North American markets.
Founder and CEO Siddhartha Durairajan expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the strategic and international marketing synergies with Grupo Marvelsa. The company is also exploring the potential of leveraging Mexico’s manufacturing capabilities to produce e-tractors for the local market and establish a base for serving the North American market.
With over 1,800 pre-orders, Cellestial Emobility is on a mission to create zero-emission products that positively impact the planet. Diego Iturrioz, Co-Managing Director of Grupo Marvelsa, welcomed the partnership, noting the significant opportunity in the Mexican tractor market and expressing confidence in the win-win nature of the collaboration.
