Anupam Mittal Jokes Ambani Should Have Streamed Anant’s Wedding on JioCinema
On Saturday, Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com, made a playful remark about Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding. Mittal suggested that the Ambani family should have streamed the wedding on JioCinema.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mittal quipped, “Dulha bhi khud ka, JioCinema bhi khud ka (The groom belongs to them, and so does JioCinema). They should have broadcast ‘The Shaadi’; it could have rivalled IPL ratings.”
Mittal’s comment humorously implied that the wedding broadcast could have attracted viewership comparable to the Indian Premier League (IPL), a major cricket event in India.
Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, married Radhika Merchant on July 12. The grand affair was attended by a host of celebrities, cricketers, industrialists, and dignitaries.
The wedding, which reportedly saw over 1,200 guests, included high-profile attendees such as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Sundar Pichai, Ivanka Trump, Bollywood stars, Indian billionaires, and state leaders.
Social Media Reactions:
Mittal’s post has sparked mixed reactions online.
One user commented, “People are tired of seeing these extravagant weddings. It would have been a ratings disaster!”
Another user inquired, “Wasn’t this wedding organized through Shaadi.com? Tell us the truth.”
A third user joked, “Streaming rights were sold to Hotstar; the wedding’s cost was worth it.”
