Chingari Wins Top Spot in India’s AatmaNirbhar App Challenge

In a major victory for the homegrown app, Chingari has been awarded the title of Best App in the Social Category at India’s inaugural AatmaNirbhar App Challenge. This recognition follows the Indian government’s ban on Chinese apps like TikTok, highlighting Chingari as the leading secure short-form video platform developed in India. The app boasts a robust user base of over 5.1 million, predominantly from Hyderabad.

The AatmaNirbhar App Challenge, organized by the Ministry of Information and Technology, aimed to identify India’s top apps with the potential for global impact. Chingari’s win in the social media category reflects its alignment with the Make in India initiative, designed to cater to the unique needs of Indian users.

Sumit Ghosh, Co-founder and CEO of Chingari, expressed his pride: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat resonates deeply with us. We are honored to be recognized as the best app in the social media category. Our features are crafted to meet the needs of young India, and we are committed to continuing this mission.”

Prior to securing the top spot, Chingari was among the top three finalists in the social media category, surpassing competitors such as Mitron and ShareChat. The challenge, which drew participation from thousands of apps, underscored Chingari’s significant lead and popularity.

Co-founder Biswatma Nayak added, “Our confidence in winning was bolstered by the early trends showing our lead. We are grateful for the support from the government and our users. This recognition fuels our drive to enhance the user experience and innovate continuously.”
