CIE-IIITH Welcomes 9 Startups to Its Latest Accelerator Cohorts
The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIIT Hyderabad (CIE-IIITH) has selected nine startups for its accelerator programs, including the Avishkar DeepTech Accelerator (Cohort 16), Ojas Medtech Accelerator (Cohort 9), and MediaTech Accelerator (Cohort 2).
About CIE-IIITH’s Accelerator Programs
Since its inception in 2016, CIE-IIITH has supported 39 startups across various sectors, including advanced tech areas like AI/ML, IoT, and Digital Health. Approximately 53% of these startups have successfully raised funding.
Starting on November 18, 2022, the latest accelerator cohort was chosen from over 120 applicants. The selected startups are involved in diverse fields such as brain modulation, XR, health diagnostics, digital health, AI, computer vision, edutainment, and advertising. The program is facilitated by Arka Media Works and SucSeed Innovation Fund.
The accelerator offers up to INR 40 lakhs in seed funding, along with a comprehensive 6-month program. Participants will receive mentorship in business strategy, go-to-market planning, technical reviews, and domain-specific advice. The program includes resident mentors who will assist in developing unique business strategies, leveraging IIITH’s research support, and gaining market access.
Prof. Ramesh Loganathan, COO of CIE-IIITH, stated, “Our flagship program supports 15 deep tech startups annually, combining research and market strategy. We are thrilled to support these early-stage startups with promising technologies as they receive formal support for the first time.”
Avishkar Accelerator – Cohort 16
- Segritech: Provides an affordable automatic grading and sorting solution for fruits and vegetables. Based in Hyderabad, it has raised INR 11.35 lakhs.
- Parentheses: Develops a Deep Tech Augmented Intelligence platform called “HuMaC” aimed at maximizing man-machine margins in various industrial ecosystems.
- Anantadi: Integrates products into entertainment content using AI-driven digital product placement. It is in the pre-revenue stage.
Ojas Accelerator – Cohort 9
- Sputnik Brain: Focuses on a brain modulation platform for stress alleviation and pleasure. The startup has raised INR 1 crore and is based in Bengaluru.
- Padmaseetha: Offers OmniPD, the world’s first portable PD cycler for at-home peritoneal dialysis. It has raised INR 2 crores and is in the clinical trial stage.
- Hummsa Biotech: Simplifies diagnostics through biotechnology and nanotechnology. It is in the R&D stage and has not raised funds yet.
- InovoCare: Develops smart medical devices for elderly care, including NIBRA-CS for detecting autonomic neuropathy. It has raised INR 79.5 lakhs.
MediaTech Accelerator – Cohort 2
- Metaverts: A platform for in-game advertising and branding in virtual real estate and metaverse environments. It is in the R&D stage and has not raised funds yet.
- BlueBall Media and Entertainment: Chimes is an audio-driven edutainment platform for children designed to reduce screen dependency. The startup has raised INR 24.35 lakhs and is in its early-revenue stage.
