Shaadi.com Founder Anupam Mittal: Entrepreneurship Has Evolved from “Uncool” to “S.E.X.Y”

Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com and judge on Shark Tank India, recently took to LinkedIn to highlight the transformation of entrepreneurship from an unremarkable career choice in the 1990s to a highly desirable one today.

Mittal’s post, which humorously addressed the difficulty some people have with the term “entrepreneur,” noted that it’s actually a simple concept. “Many people I meet can’t spell entrepreneurship😇 But what if I told you it’s only a 4-letter word😅,” Mittal quipped on LinkedIn.

Reflecting on his 15 years as an angel investor, Mittal shared an anecdote about a founder who sought investment not just for business success but to gain respect from his girlfriend’s family. “When I started angel investing 15 years ago, a founder of a current Unicorn asked me to invest in him for two reasons: to build something epic and to gain validation for his marriage😂,” Mittal wrote.

Mittal observed that while entrepreneurship was once seen as less glamorous, it is now considered ‘S.E.X.Y’. He explained that the term stands for:

  • S – Solving Problems: Entrepreneurs are driven by a passion to address real needs and gaps in the market.
  • E – Execution Powerhouse: They are relentless and resourceful, turning ideas into reality with determination and skill.
  • X – Extraordinary: Entrepreneurs excel by focusing intensely on their strengths and continually improving.
  • Y – Why: Understanding their core purpose drives them forward and creates long-term value.

Mittal emphasized that today’s entrepreneurs are admired not just for their roles but for their genuine impact and dedication.
