At the 78th Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi on August 15, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of publicizing punishments for crimes against women. The event was attended by 6,000 special guests, including the Indian contingent from the Paris Olympics, student beneficiaries of the Atal Innovation Mission, Border Roads Organisation workers, and sarpanches.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag for the 11th consecutive year at the Red Fort. To ensure security, over 10,000 police officers were deployed across India, alongside facial recognition cameras and snipers in Delhi. Additionally, security camps were established in 13 villages within Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-affected Bastar region, where the Tricolour was raised for the first time to mark Independence Day.
