Mechanical Sweeper in Navi Mumbai
A recent video featuring a mechanical sweeper in Navi Mumbai has sparked widespread attention online. This new initiative is part of the city’s drive to become the cleanest in India.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has introduced six advanced mechanical sweeping machines to enhance cleanliness on the city’s major roads. Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde is overseeing this project, which focuses on maintaining four key thoroughfares: Palm Beach Road, Thane-Belapur Road, APMC Market Road, and Amra Marg.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr. Ajay Gadade informed Newsband that these machines, capable of running on diesel, CNG, and electricity, are designed to be both powerful and eco-friendly.
In a similar vein, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation has launched a ₹19.3 crore project to upgrade its mechanical sweeping and cleaning operations, covering 119 main roads and 415 km in the capital.
While cities like Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, and Patna have employed mechanical sweepers to some extent, Navi Mumbai’s initiative is notable for its scale.
