QuaQua Secures $1 Million Funding from Anthill Ventures and Other Investors

Hyderabad-based QuaQua, the world’s first immersive travel platform specializing in virtual reality (VR)-enabled travel content, has raised $1 million in funding from Anthill Ventures and existing investors. Founded in 2016 by Purav Shah and Sandesh Reddy, QuaQua has completed its initial round of institutional investment, marking a significant milestone as one of the fastest-growing innovators in the content-driven travel-tech space.

The funding will be used to enhance QuaQua’s user experience and develop a comprehensive AI- and content-driven travel platform. This platform will manage the entire customer journey—from travel inspiration and planning to bookings, support, and sharing travel experiences. Additionally, QuaQua will expand its booking features to include flights, hotels, transfers, boutique experiences, staycations, and personalized packages. The investment will also facilitate the creation of content for 125 new tourist destinations across India.

QuaQua boasts a user base of over 2.5 million from more than 100 countries, with around 70% of users returning post-COVID-19. The platform’s immersive virtual travel experiences are available for free, promoting sustainable tourism.

Purav Shah, Co-founder and CEO of QuaQua, commented, “With over 20 million video views in the last four months and a significant rise in engagement, the demand for a content-driven travel platform is stronger than ever. We are focusing on India-specific virtual content and personalized booking experiences to meet the evolving needs of travelers.”

Sandesh Reddy, Co-founder and Head of Finance Strategy, added, “The effective use of funds is crucial for long-term success. This investment will help us enhance our platform, launch offline travel experiences, and build an AI-driven travel community.”

Anthill Ventures, known for its rapid scaling of early-stage technology startups, sees significant potential in QuaQua’s innovative approach. Sailesh Sigatapu, Partner at Anthill Ventures, stated, “QuaQua’s content-first approach is a game-changer in the travel industry. We are excited to support their growth.”

QuaQua has received multiple accolades, including being named one of the “Top 10 AR/VR Start-ups” and “India’s 10 Best Travel Tech Companies.” The platform is recognized under the “Start-up India” initiative by the Government of India.
