Entrepreneurial students from around the globe are invited to drive positive social change through innovative tech solutions with Red Bull Basement 2020.

This year, Red Bull Basement is calling on student innovators from all disciplines to rethink and enhance campus and community life. Expanding to more countries than ever in its third year, the program encourages students to envision and develop creative solutions for everyday challenges.

To participate, university students aged 18 and older must visit the Red Bull Basement website and submit a video up to 60 seconds long that clearly presents their idea.

In India, aspiring applicants can engage with Launchpads—events offering industry insights and featuring inspiring personalities and entrepreneurs, curated by Under 25.

The Red Bull Basement Program

Red Bull Basement provides a range of resources to help students develop their ideas, including mentorship, workshops, and networking opportunities, both online and on campus. The program culminates in the Red Bull Basement 2020 Global Workshop, where students from over 35 countries will receive support from global thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and visionaries to bring their ideas to life.

Public voting will occur the week of October 26. Top-voted ideas from each country will advance to the judges’ round, where the best idea will be selected based on creativity, feasibility, and impact. Each country’s finalist team will then receive further development support through the Red Bull Basement network, including an international mentor program, workspace access, and micro funding, leading up to the Global Workshop.

Previous Global Workshops were held in Berlin (2018) and Toronto (2019). This year’s immersive, three-day event, scheduled for December 10-13, will feature workshops, mentorship programs, and surprise activities, culminating in a Final Pitch to the judges. Details on the event format will be announced soon.

Red Bull Basement 2019 Winners: Team EnergyBrid

In 2019, Bengaluru’s Nandhika Venkateswaran and Lajin Bhaskar won the India edition of Red Bull Basement and participated in the Global Workshop in Toronto. Their winning concept, EnergyBrid, proposed a piezoelectric grid system to generate electricity from footsteps on college pathways, powering campus facilities.

Applications for Red Bull Basement 2020 are open until October 25, 2020. For more information, to apply, find local events, or explore past top ideas, visit redbullbasement.com.
