Samskara Home, launched in 2022 by sisters Raina and Anjana Singhwi, is a Tamil Nadu-based startup specializing in handcrafted Pooja and gifting essentials. The brand focuses on inclusivity, catering to various religious traditions and festivals in India, from Diwali and Navratri to Christmas and Eid.

Founders’ Background:

Raina, 38, holds a Business Management degree from PSG College of Arts and Science and an MSc in International Business from Manchester Business School. She previously worked at Google Hyderabad before joining her family’s business, where she gained extensive experience in compliance, procurement, and supply chain management. She is also the founder of a kids’ lifestyle brand, Jibble & Cuzzi.

Anjana, 32, pursued Graphic and Communication Design at Parsons School of Design in New York and the University of the Arts London. With experience interning for Daymond John from Shark Tank US and working with several design agencies, Anjana founded her brand experience design studio, Chipper Creative. She also created Sneak No More, a brand specializing in custom sneakers.

Birth of Samskara Home:

The Singhwi family’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1982 with the establishment of Ramesh Flowers Private Limited in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. Initially specializing in dry flowers, Ramesh Flowers became a leading exporter in India. The company later expanded into candle manufacturing, becoming one of India’s largest producers in the industry. In 2019, the family sold Ramesh Flowers to the Gala Group, a German company.

Inspired by the untapped potential in India’s religious and spiritual market, Raina and Anjana launched Samskara Home with a significant investment, starting from scratch with just two employees. The company has since dedicated itself to innovation, introducing sustainable products like preserved foliage, marking a new standard in eco-conscious offerings.

Growth and Future Plans:

In just a year and a half, Samskara Home has grown into a thriving venture, offering over 400 products with a loyal customer base of 3,000 and counting. Their products are available on platforms like AmalaEarth, Dusaan, Ferns and Petals, Swiggy Mini, and Amazon, with plans to expand to Reliance, JioMart, Flipkart, and Amazon US. The brand is also exploring partnerships with retail giants and corporate gifting ventures.

Samskara Home’s offerings include a wide range of Pooja essentials, home decor items, and eco-friendly products like cellulose incense, which has earned intellectual property rights. The company is on track to achieve sales between ₹1 crore and ₹2 crore by the end of the fiscal year, with plans to expand its product lineup to nearly 900 SKUs by 2025.

The Singhwi sisters are committed to maintaining Samskara Home as a self-reliant brand, proudly manufacturing in India. With their dedication to creativity and continuous improvement, they aim to add even more value to their customers’ lives.
