Empowering MSMEs: India Shopping Brings Indian Goods to the World, Making it Easy for NRIs to Enjoy Handpicked Delicacies

Founded in July 2023, India Shopping is a trailblazing e-commerce platform that connects India’s small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with global markets, offering NRIs the convenience of ordering authentic regional delicacies and products from home.

The Visionary Behind India Shopping: Rahul Bhatt’s Journey

The startup was founded by Rahul Bhatt, whose journey from the small town of Jaora in Madhya Pradesh to becoming a successful entrepreneur is both inspiring and transformative. With an engineering background from the Mandsaur Institute of Technology and two decades of experience in fintech giants like HSBC, Impetus, and Lending Club, Rahul identified a critical gap in the market—how difficult it was for NRIs to get products from India. This realization led him to create India Shopping, with the dual mission of making it easier for NRIs to access Indian goods and empowering MSMEs to export their products globally.

Building a Digital Bridge: Simplifying Exports for MSMEs

India Shopping was designed to be a digital bridge that streamlines the often cumbersome process of cross-border transactions. The platform allows users worldwide to easily shop for Indian products while enabling small and medium businesses in India, particularly mom-and-pop stores, to tap into international markets. Unlike traditional export methods, which can take months, India Shopping offers a faster, more efficient solution, all while operating on a commission-free model.

From a Small Start to Global Reach

The journey began modestly, with initial support from friends and family. The first order came from Ohio, marking the beginning of a steady growth trajectory. By September 2023, India Shopping had expanded to key cities like Indore, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Ajmer, making regional products accessible to consumers in 38 U.S. states and seven countries. Today, the platform has served over 1,000 customers and generated nearly Rupees 1 crore in sales within just 8-9 months.

Looking Ahead: Expanding Beyond E-commerce

India Shopping is not just content with its current success. The platform plans to expand into new sectors, including elderly care and investment products tailored for NRIs. Rahul Bhatt’s vision is to partner with market leaders in these domains, replicating the success of their e-commerce model.

Currently operational in 10 cities across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, India Shopping has ambitious plans to extend its reach to major metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai, continuing its mission to bring the best of India to the world.
