Fans Warned Against ‘Tay-Gating’ at Taylor Swift’s Wembley Concerts
As Taylor Swift prepares for her highly anticipated London Eras Tour shows, fans without tickets are being asked to avoid gathering outside Wembley Stadium. The practice, dubbed Tay-Gating, involves fans congregating outside to listen to the music but is not allowed for her five Wembley concerts starting August 15.
According to Wembley Stadium’s website, only ticket holders or those visiting the merchandise store should be at the stadium. “To ensure safe entry and exit, no one is allowed to stand outside any entrance or on the Olympic Steps at the front of the stadium,” the venue advised. Anyone without a ticket will be asked to leave.
In June, Taylor Swift performed three nights at Wembley Stadium, which has a capacity of 90,000. During her Eras Tour stop in Munich last month, around 50,000 fans camped out on the hills behind the Olympiastadion to listen to the show, which Swift acknowledged on Instagram. Despite 74,000 attendees each night, the hillside gathering also contributed to the event’s unique atmosphere.
Swift’s London concerts follow the cancellation of her Vienna shows from August 8-10 due to a security threat. Two men were arrested on August 7, with a third suspect detained the following day.
Ahead of the London shows, Wembley Stadium has announced strict security measures, including thorough checks and a no-weapons policy. The Metropolitan Police have assured that the Vienna incident will not impact the London performances and highlighted the venue’s history of hosting high-profile events safely.
Taylor Swift’s Wembley concerts, supported by Paramore, Griff, and Suki Waterhouse, will run until August 20.
