Anand Mahindra Highlights Maharashtra Entrepreneur Turning Industrial Waste into Stylish Furniture
Anand Mahindra recently spotlighted Pradeep Jadhav, an entrepreneur from Maharashtra, who is converting industrial waste into elegant furniture and decor through his startup, Gigantiques. The viral video shared by Mahindra showcases Jadhav’s innovative use of discarded materials like drums, cycle rims, and unused bottles to create chic tables, chairs, and clocks.
Mahindra praised Jadhav’s entrepreneurial spirit and emphasized that this approach aligns with India’s tradition of resourcefulness. He posted on X, “Nothing new. Just a way of life in India…” alongside the video.
Mahindra referred to this practice as part of the “circular economy,” a model where materials are reused, refurbished, remanufactured, recycled, or composted to avoid waste. He added, “The circular economy. Where nothing is wasted.”
Founder’s Journey:
Pradeep Jadhav, hailing from Dalvade village in Dhule district, began with ITI and a diploma before working in various jobs. His entrepreneurial journey started with a bookstore, followed by a venture into making furniture from recycled tires, inspired by a YouTube video. Balancing his job and startup, Jadhav gained momentum and eventually left his job in 2019 to focus on Gigantiques. The business, now employing 15 people and having completed 500 orders, enjoys popularity in Pune and Mumbai for its unique, eco-friendly furniture.
